The Minnesota Gopher men knocked off the Miami Hurricanes down in Miami last night 78-60 to advance in the NIT. The Gophers proved that it is hard to lose when you shoot 58 percent and your opponent shoots 33. Oh, and you shoot 46 percent on 3s (6-of-13) to their 16, and you make 84 percent of your FT and they make 64. And when you out-rebound the other side 37-19.
It was, in short, an old-fashioned butt-kicking. Rodney Williams led the butt-kickers with 21 points, 5 boards and 3 assists. Joe Coleman and Andre Hollins each scored 14 with 12 boards and 7 assists between them, and Julian Welch added 13 points.
Minnesota led 35-23 at the half and never looked back.
