The Big Game 2-2-12; Spotlight on the High Schools

Boys

The feature game among the boys was DeLaSalle 58 Blake 49, the Islanders avenging an early defeat to Blake 50-44. DeLaSalle moves to 12-3, Blake is 14-3. Each is right now listed as the 3rd seed in their sections (3AAA and 6AAA, respectively).

The big upset was pulled by 7-12 Chatfield over Plainview-Elgin-Millville 53-51. PEM drops to 14-6 but remains the #1 seeding option in Section 1A.

The game I would have liked to see was Mpls. Washburn 88 Mpls. South 62. Washburn moves to 16-2.

Girls

Among the girls, the feature game was Roseville 50 Mounds View 49. The Raiders are now 17-3 and the Mustangs 16-4, but Mounds View is currently seeded #1 and Roseville #3 in Section 5AAAA. according to QRF. The Mustangs also drop into a 1st place tie with Roseville in the Suburban East (11-2) while 2 others (Cretin and White Bear) are 10-2.

The likely #1A seed in section 1A, Goodhue, snuck past 10-10 Zumbrota-Mazeppa 78-73. Of course, Ericka Tipcke is out of action for Goodhue with an injury.

Thief River Falls (17-3) defeated section 8AAAA rival Detroit Lakes 65-59.

Player of the Day

Christine Thorn os the St. Michael-Albertville girls busted loose for 41 points to lead the Knights over Cambridge-Isanti 72-67. Thorn is a 5-9 senior who has committed to joining her predecessor as St. M-A point guard, Brittani Wiese, at Minnesota-Crookston.
