The Big Game 3-12 and 3-13-12: Boys Sections Getting Serious

OK I'm a little late here with the boys sectional results from Monday night and so I'm combining Monday and Tuesday.

Monday Night

The big game last night (Monday) saw St. Peter edge Waterville-EM 49-48 in a Section 2AA semi-final. The Saints will meet United South Central in the section final after USC edged Hayfield 43-39.

Meanwhile, Sleepy Eye St. Mary's and Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin advanced to the Section 2A final.

But returning to St. Peter vs. WEM. St. Pete led 24-9. WEM puts a 35-10 run on the Saints to lead 44-34 with 10 minutes left, then starts working the clock, or not working the clock as the case may be. Or, in any event, it didn't work and St. Peter closed out the game on a 15-4 run for a 49-48 win. Ouch.

Tuesday Night

Tonight's big game came out like this: Defending Class AA champion, #2 seeded Perham 57 #1 seeded Pelican Rapids 54 in a Section 8AA semi-final. I don't have any info other than the score right now.

There were other games tonight worth mentioning:

#1A Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 64 Battle Lake 60
#1 seed St. Cloud Cathedral 52 #2 Annandale 50
#2 Bagley 70 #1 Crosby-Ironton 50!
Browerville 62 Upsala 51, so there will be a new Section 5A champion
